Ella Friend: Volunteer Award Winner

Ella has been a dedicated daily volunteer for years now! She comes to the shelter 5 days a week at 5:30 AM and spends at least 4 hours cleaning up after our cats. It’s necessary, but not a very glamorous job! Things would be a lot more difficult around here without Ella. Not to mention, she is an amazing cook and frequently brings treats for all of us at the shelter!

On Thursday, April 17th Ella was honored for her outstanding volunteerism! She was 1 of 5 people in the entire state of Maine to be awarded for her volunteer work in 2013! Ella attended an award ceremony at the Hall of Flags State House in Augusta where the Governor’s wife presented her with a certificate of honor for her incredible contribution.

In 2013, Ella volunteered for over 1,200 hours. She is always willing to take on more responsibility to help in any way she can. She is truly invested in the well-being of the animals at our shelter and she takes her work here seriously. There’s no one more deserving of this high honor. GO ELLA!
